Now Open Registration for 2025 Departure to Kyoto University
This is collaboration program between IPB University and Kyoto University, especially Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies (GSGES). In this program, student will have a chance to pursue 2 master’s degree within 3 years. The general schedule is like this: 2024-2025 at IPB University, 2025-2026 at Kyoto University, and 2026-2027 at IPB University – must finish on time. The elected students must write 2 theses to gain both degrees. During the stay in Kyoto, awardee will receive scholarship. Check more detailed scheme of this program in the Guideline (Notes section). This program normally accepts 2 students in GSGES. However, the quota may vary according to annual policy and funding. We will update this quota during selection process.
Eligible applicants
- Having completed a bachelor’s degree
- GPA in undergraduate program must be 3.00 at minimum
- Currently in first semester of master’s program in IPB University (starting the study in August 2024). Students enrolled in IPB in February 2024 may also apply as well. All candidates should have already conducted colloquium before departure.
- No more than 35 years old on April 1, 2025
- Having proficiency in English communication skills
- Be in good health
- Not be already enrolled in another double degree program
- GSGES is only applicable for PWL, ARL, ESL, TNH, and PSL study programs.

- Bachelor diploma and academic transcript in English
- Academic transcript of first semester in English (current master’s program) if available

- Certificate of English proficiency (minimum 500 for TOEFL ITP, 64 for TOEFL iBT, or 6 for IELTS) and must be official from ETS or British Council
- Student ID card, & passport ID page (passport can be uploaded later).

Important dates

- Interview with IPB lecturers: around 3-8 May 2025 (informed later via email)
- Some laboratories of GSGES Kyoto University probably will conduct the interview around end of May 2025
- Interview with GSGES professors: early June 2025
- Final announcement: end of June 2025
- Elected students will depart to Kyoto University in late September 2025

- Consider carefully about your decision to join this program, make sure that you will not obtain any serious academic problem in the future
- All required documents must be submitted as .pdf with 300 dpi or more if the text is too small
- If there is a different information between guideline, poster, and webpage, the on-webpage one is more accurate
- In the application form point 7 (GSGES form), mention that you are an active student of IPB and mention the name of workplace/organization if you are now a full-time worker.
- The applicant is required to mention the PROPOSED LABORATORY (e.g. Regional Planning/GSGES). Please check the laboratory name in the following link.
